Our mission
To create a community of educators that spread the importance of kindness, empathy and gratitude through the gift of giving. We do this by helping redirect money that would otherwise be used for the optional end of year teacher/educator gifts from families to charities aligned with Teacher Presence. This allows us as educators to lead by example and show our students and families the impact of giving to others in need.
Join us to make a difference by becoming a part of the Teacher Presence community.
Charities we are partnering with this year:
100% of all donations go directly to the teacher’s nominated charity. Teacher Presence does not receive any of the money donated. Teacher Presence core function is to raise essential funds for those who most need it.
Supporting students to set goals for their future
Berry Street exists to help children who are experiencing violence, abuse and neglect, supporting them to recover from trauma so they can lead happy, healthy lives. Berry Street works with 35,000 children, young people and families every year, providing therapeutic support, safe homes and trauma-informed education that enables children and young people to stay connected with school and community.
Berry Street believes that every child and young person should be able to access education that meets their needs. Berry Street wants to see all schools able to meet the needs of young people who have experienced trauma so they can remain engaged in mainstream education. For twenty years they’ve been operating Berry Street Schools across Victoria, as well as training teachers across Australia in the trauma-informed Berry Street Education Model (BSEM). Trauma-informed education helps not only those impacted by trauma, but it also helps all students and educators to build resilience and deal with the everyday stresses of growing up.
Berry Street also provides out-of-home care therapeutic care and specialist services to children, young people and families. These services support children to concentrate better at school. Their learning and engagement at school improves as they start to feel safe and hopeful about the future. Through your donation, you’re supporting children and young people to recover from neglect, abuse and violence; to re-engage with school and education; and to move forward into brighter futures.
Feeding Hungry Kids across the country
After reading that kids were going hungry at school in his hometown of Shepparton, Victoria. Lyndon pinched what he could from his Mum’s cupboards and started making sandwiches to drop to the schools.
That was in 2013, today Eat Up is led by a passionate and capable team and army of volunteers who aspire to feed hungry kids across the country.
So far they’ve made and delivered over 980,000 lunches to school in Victoria, NSW and Queensland. Teacher Presence congratulates Eat Up for this amazing initiative and we are looking forward to supporting this great cause.
Building toilets and delivering hygiene education programs in India
Mark Balla, the founder of the charity, discovered through travelling for business, that many young girls do not go to school in India because there are no toilets on site.
Girls simply stop going to school and therefore do not receive a much valued education. He has set up a registered charity called Operation Toilet, and he has done amazing work supported by Box Hill Central Rotary to build toilets and deliver hygiene education programs in India to those who most need support.
His work has changed the lives of many children who now have the opportunity to be educated. Teacher Presence has been truly touched by Operation Toilet’s story and their teams passion to help others.
